2014 Worthington Chess Challenge

2014 Worthington Chess Challenge was held on March 15th at Evening Street Elementary in Worthington, Ohio. Total 201 players participated in this tournament. This is the biggest local scholastic chess tournament in Columbus Metropolitan area in this school year so far. Twenty nine current students of Dragon Chess Center took part in this tournament. They won 19 individual trophies in four sections.

Individual award winners:

K-2 Non-rated Section:

    Lucas Xue -
1st place, 5.0 pts.
    Aizvereah Somakandan - 2nd place, 4.5 pts.
    Edward Zha - 5th place, 3.5 pts.
    Ashton Mason - 6th place, 3.5 pts.

3-4 Non-rated Section:

    Rohit Chejarla - 2nd place, 4.5 pts.
    Karthik Kallam - 3rd place, 4.0 pts.
    Ishan Aiyer - 4th place, 4.0 pts.
    Saketh Kalikiri - 6th place, 4.0 pts.
    Kushal Kothapalli - 8th place, 4.0 pts.
    Dinesh Bojja - 11th place, 4.0 pts.
    Melissa Thomas - 14th place, 3.0 pts.
    Nikil Prabhakar - 16th place, 3.0 pts.
    Athin Shetty - 17th place, 3.0 pts.

5-8 Non-rated Section:

    Akshar Aiyer - 4th place, 4.0 pts.
    Shreyas Sunder - 5th place, 4.0 pts.
    Sampreeth Krovvidi - 6th place, 4.0 pts.
    Shantanu Velnati - 8th place, 4.0 pts.
    Sushruth Manchinella - 11th place, 3.0 pts.

Rated U900:

    Rushi Bhatt - 5th place, 3.0 pts.


1. The team competition at this tournament is only for school teams. Dragon students scatter in many schools but are not concentrated in few schools. Therefore, Dragon players are missing from team competition at this tournament.
