2013 Worthington Chess Challenge

Worthington Chess Challenge was held on 3/9/2013 at Evening Street Elementary. This is the second biggest local scholastic chess tournament in Columbus Metro area. 208 chess players from Ohio participated in this tournament. Twenty eight players are current students of Dragon Chess Center. Seven of them come from Cincinnati.

Rated U900:
    Andrew Dvorkin -
1st place, 4.0 pts.
    Abhirami Suresh - 2nd place, 4.0 pts.
    Jeremy Grimm - 3rd place, 4.0 pts.
    Gilbert Mao - 5th place, 3.5 pts.
    Sai Chintala - 6th place, 3.5 pts.

Non-rated 6-8:
    Lucas Zhang -
1st place, 5.0 pts
    Sampreeth Krovvidi - 2nd place, 4.0 pts.
    Shyam Pandya - 4th place, 3.5 pts.

Non-rated 3-5:
    Athin Shetty - 2nd place,
5.0 pts.
    Udbhav Raghukanth - 3rd place,
5.0 pts.
    Lohith Savardekar - 4th place, 4.0 pts.
    Matt Butler - 6th place, 4.0 pts.
    Srikrishna Kondaveeti - 7th place, 4.0 pts.
    Duke Wang - 9th place, 4.0 pts.

    Rushi Bhatt - 2nd place, 4.0 pts.

Team trophy Winners:

    Open section: Champion - Deer Run Elementary
    U900 section: Champion - Deer Run Elementary
    3-5 Non-rated section: 2nd place, - Deer Run Elementary

Comments:

1. These are terrific results and it is an excellent rehearsal for Queen City Classic. Students from Dragon Chess Center swept most of top spots in the Non-rated section and took almost of all individual trophies in rated U900 section.

2. Lucas, Athin, Udbhav, and Jason got a perfect score of 5.0. Twelve students got a score of 4.0 out of 5.0. Most of them only lost to their fellow students at Dragon Chess Center.

3. Big rating jump:
