2012 CAHS Classic Chess Tournament

2012 CAHS Classic chess tournament was held on 2/4/2012. This is the biggest local scholastic chess tournament in Columbus Metro area. About 220 chess players from all over Ohio participated in this tournament. Thirty seven of them are students of Dragon Chess Center. The following 30 students won individual trophies in different sections:

Rated U1200:
    Ray Chung - 2nd place, 4.5 pts.
    Brian Pang - 3rd place, 4.0 pts.

Rated U800:
    Ved Sampath - 4th place, 4.0 pts.
    Andrew Dvorkin - 7th place, 3.5 pts.

Non-rated K-3:
    Kindergarten:
        Sean Jackson -
1st place, 4.0 pts.
        Sena Guo - 2nd place, 4.0 pts.
        Tej Sampath - 3rd place, 3.5 pts.

    1st Grade:
        Timothy Cao -
1st place, 5.0 pts.
        Jeremy Grimm - 2nd place, 4.5 pts.
        Aja Sampath - 3rd place, 3.0 pts.
        Michelle Chen - 4th place, 3.0 pts.
        Kevin Dong - 5th place, 3.0 pts.

    2nd Grade:
         Amogh Mahambare -
1st place, 4.0 pts.
         Shiv Malhotra - 2nd place, 4.0 pts.
         Gilbert Mao - 8th place, 3.0 pts.

    3rd Grade:
        Aaron Xie - 2nd place, 4.5 pts.
        Duke Wang - 3rd place, 3.5 pts.
        Aditya Jambhale - 5th place, 3.0 pts.
        Chari Govindarajan - 6th place, 3.0 pts.

Non-rated 4-6:
    4th Grade:
        Alvin Anand - 3rd place, 4.0 pts.
        Shivani Dhekne - 4th place, 4.0 pts.
        Sujan Rachuri - 7th place, 3.0 pts.
        Abhirami Suresh - 8th place, 3.0 pts.

     5th Grade:

         Jayanth Donthireddy - 2nd place, 4.0 pts.
         Sampreeth Krovvidi - 3rd place, 4.0 pts.

      6th Grade:

1st place, 4.0 pts.
          Saket Nekkanti - 2nd place, 4.0 pts.

Comments:

1. This is terrific result and an excellent rehearsal for the Queen City Classic. My students won all individual first and second places for kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade in the non-rated sections. They also took all top five spots in 1st grade and 5th grade non-rated groups.

2. Nine of Dragon students came from Cincinnati area. They brought back seven individual trophies including two first, one second and one third.
