2011 National Road Chess Tournament

2011 National Road Chess Tournament was held on 10/22. About 120 players participated in this tournament. This is the first big local chess tournament in Columbus Metro area in this school year. It attracted some strong chess club teams and school chess teams in Ohio. Twenty one of them come from the Dragon Chess Club. Here is a brief summary of the results of members of the Dragon Chess Club at this tournament:

Rated Reserve U1000:
Team Champion

    Justin Wu - 2nd place
    Ganesh Yuluguri - 3rd place

Rated Elementary (K-6):

    Pratheek Gandhodi - 2nd place
   
Non-rated 4-6:
Team Champion

    Ray Chung - 2nd place
    Allan Tian - 3rd place
    Brian Pang - 4th place
    Ved Sampath - 5th place
    Nolan Song - 7th place

Non-rated K-3:
Team Champion

    Jay Chung - 1st place
    Amogh Mahambare - 2nd place
    Adity Jambhale - 3rd place
    Aja Sampath - 5th place
    Dakshin Pisini - 6th place


Comments:

1. All three section teams won the the team champions with very big lead over the second place teams. In Non-rated 4-6 section, two Dragon teams won 1st and 2nd.

2. All rated players had rating increase. Justin Wu, a 2nd grader, got a big rating jump from USCF 816 to USCF 1000.

3. Dragon Chess Center members' dominance have expanded from non-rated sections to intermediate rated sections.
