2011 Brain Freeze Chess Tournament

2011 Brain Freeze chess tournament was held on 1/15/2011. About 150 chess players shown up at this tournament. This tournament used to be a relative small local chess tournament in Columbus Metro area. The number of participants has been growing in the last few years. It attracts more strong players to this tournament. Fourteen of my students represented the Dragon Chess Club team in four sections. Here are results of those students:

Rated Reserve Section (U1000):
Team Champion
    Lisa Lin - 4th place, 3.5 pts.

Rated Elementary (K-6) Section:
Co-team Champion
Vincent (Jingwei) Baker - 2nd place, 4.5 pts

Non-rated K-3:
Team Champion
    Ethan Chung - 1st place, 5.0 pts.
    Ayush Sunkad - 2nd place, 4.0 pts.
    Amogh Mahambare - 6th place, 3.5 pts.

Non-rated 4-6:
    Pratheek Gandhodi - 6th place, 4.0 pts.

1. The overall results of Dragon Chess Center students are pretty good. Dragon team won two team champions at the reserve and K-3 non-rated sections and tied at the first place at the rated elementary section.

2. Lisa had another solid performance. Her USCF rating jumped more than 100 points to 942. Vincent has been improving steadily in the last few months. It is not surprise for him to have a 150 points rating leap after accumulation.
